Conversation with a 4 yo
POSTED AT 05:24 PM

This week's theme is Restaurant.

After the hoohaa for the week, we ended by making a simple menu for them to take home.

Conversation between me and my 4 years old student

Ee J: Wow, this cake is nice! Yum! (pretending to have the cake from the menu)

Me : How do you know it is nice?

Ee J : It's TEN dollars, it is expensive that is why it is nice.

 and we continued...

Me: If the cake is ten dollars and I only have five dollars, what should I do?

Ee J : Then, you need to get more money

Me : What if I don't have any more money?

Ee J : Then, you'll have to work to get more money!

ME : What if I do not want to work?

Ee J : ... ... ... Then, you are just too bossy... ...

me :  hahhahahahsha

the squirt
POSTED AT 02:37 PM

I love the internet. It’s fun. Well, as I was leaving my workplace today, I had to stop for the loo and to my surprise the loo displayed its grievance towards me in a very peculiar way. I wish I could put this simpler yet I do not know the parts of the toilet well.

So I googled “toilet anatomy.” These are the search that came up - toiletology, toiletgeek, and best of all oh-crap-an-emergency-guide-to-your-girlfriends-toilet .

Love the internet. I had a good laugh this especially; http://www.primermagazine.com/2008/learn/oh-crap-an-emergency-guide-to-your-girlfriends-toilet and the visuals are just mind-boggling. Anyway, the loo that I went to had another feature than those in the internet so sadly I am back to square one unknowingly the part about to mention. Thus, for my own purpose I shall named it, “The Squirt”.

toilet

Now, as you can see, I’ve drawn a simple diagram of the toilet (view-looking downwards) and there it is “The Squirt”. The squirt basically squirts the water out from the tank as you flush – DOWNWARDS. Well as lucky as I am today, as I flushed, the water squirted HORIZONTALLY, instead of going down.

Of course being the lady I am, I screamed and avoided the crisis. How did I do it, you say… simple. I jumped and stand with my legs wide apart. The water squirted past me. Phew, this is one of the day I thank the lord I’m tall. If that was not bad enough, mind you, I was still in the cubicle. So the water still splashes and makes it way back to me as it hits the door. “What to do?!?!@?# What to do?!?@##$%#@” I say… How do I get out of this mess? The door is behind me, the water is still squirting non stop and I am still standing with my legs wide apart (thank god my pants are up)

Simple.

I simply just lowered the lid and closed it. Crisis over... and thank god I did not think of waiting for the water to stop squirting, otherwise I would be drenched. The water didn’t stop running even after i had left

Starbucks
POSTED AT 12:59 PM

Do you realise the thing you do in public?

As I was enjoying my coffee and my internet access in Starbucks Coffee the other day, the manager was standing right in my view; apparently doing some of his work while scratching his ass. Couldn't help it, I lifted up my head and there he was; scratching obnoxiously.

I don't know about you, but I think there are things you should not do and should be aware of when you are in public, such as scratching your ass- is a no-no

I left and never return ever since.

I told my colleague that we should observe Yuri for few more days before drawing the conclusion. And she replied

"Yes, be more patience Auntie L..."

What did she mean by that? She is the one who agrees that Yuri is troublesome and said to me that I should not "baby" her. She also told our boss that if we give her too much attention and allows her to do as she pleases, she will continue to not do anything the next time round.

It doesn't sound good on me at all.

I mean let's say that I was her, I would have said " That sounds like a good idea and let's continue to be patience altogether." rather than "be more patience Auntie L...." It sounds like I had scream or scolded Yuri for the last two days... I'm sensitive, I know.

I kept my mind very clear today, to observe Yuri and to deduce a conclusion on her.

Overall I found that she is alright! Normal reaction from a kid that is adjusting to a new environment. MAYBE it's her mom that causes so much anxiety and stress in me that I felt that Yuri is difficult to handle.

Oh well I feel much better today without her mom around to tell me to do this and that...I think Yuri finds it better too

what A day
POSTED AT 01:27 PM

Ah, what A day.
Today, an Asian American (Korean) lady called and requested to have her daughter in my class. She came here before and mentioned to Luke's mom that she will never ever send her children to our school. According to Luke's mom, she hated my bangs (fringe).

My dear sweet lord, since when did my hair become me?

She came back to us after 2 months from her trial day. Does that mean that the other schools that she has been to and other teachers that she has met iare worse than my fringe? Seriously, how do you judge a person by their fringe? What if one had a bad hair day?

Her daughter apparently remembers me and likes me. (*yay, I’m likable*)

Yuri is 4 years old and she is extremely shy. She cried hysterically climbing up the chair and table just to get to her mom. She hit her mom repeatedly for not following what she requested, to a point that her mom just ordered me to take her daughter away from her so she could leave. That, was exactly what I did and thank God that she didn’t hit me. Usually children (at that age) in that situation would scratch/hit/slap/do just about anything just to squirm away.

Maybe I’m more experience now (*another yay) but whatever it was, I’m glad. I prayed and thank God she stopped. I’ve never felt more talkative in my life than today. I was talking and praying out softly all the time. Every single step and move that I’m about to make, I told her beforehand. I even read her a story book, twice (right after I finished the story, she happily said “Read it again)   -_-“

Well, all in all she enjoys herself and wanted to come back tomorrow. I don’t know what I’ll do tomorrow, I don’t think I could do the same all over again. God, why… I know you are preparing me for the future, but slow down God… slow down on the challenges…please…

am sick
POSTED AT 12:53 PM

*cough* *wheeze* *sneeze* #dizzy and hot#

Yet life still goes on. I'm down with flu, fever and cough. 3 in 1 mix! It has been 3 days and yes, I went to work for the past few days looking like a panda bear about to have a heart attack (only to succumb later, that is to say within an hour or two)

I'm an exaggerator, I know.
